Industrial Automation Project Manager

Build the systems that move manufacturing forward

  • LocationLeander, Texas
  • EmploymentFull-time
  • Work settingPrimarily on-site
Apply for this role

DAC Robotics is seeking an Industrial Automation Project Manager to lead custom automation and robotic-system projects from customer kickoff through design, build, integration, installation, and final acceptance. This role is the central connection between our customers and our mechanical, electrical, controls, software, machining, and assembly teams.

The right candidate understands that custom equipment projects require both disciplined planning and hands-on problem solving. You will keep scope, schedule, budget, risk, documentation, and customer expectations aligned while helping multidisciplinary teams deliver reliable systems for real-world manufacturing environments.

What you will do

  • Own project delivery. Lead assigned automation projects from internal handoff and kickoff through factory acceptance, installation, commissioning, customer acceptance, and closeout.
  • Lead the plan. Develop and maintain project schedules, milestones, action lists, budgets, risk registers, and status reporting.
  • Coordinate technical teams. Align mechanical design, electrical engineering, controls, software, machining, purchasing, assembly, and field-service work.
  • Serve the customer. Act as the primary point of contact, conduct regular reviews, document decisions, and communicate progress, risks, and next steps clearly.
  • Control scope. Translate requirements into executable work, manage changes, support change-order development, and protect project commitments.
  • Drive execution. Remove roadblocks, escalate issues early, coordinate vendors and long-lead items, and keep deliverables moving.
  • Support quality and safety. Ensure project documentation, testing, customer requirements, and safe work practices are incorporated throughout delivery.
  • Improve how we work. Capture lessons learned and help strengthen estimating, scheduling, communication, and project-management practices.

What you bring

  • Project-management experience in industrial automation, robotics, systems integration, custom machinery, capital equipment, or a closely related manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional engineering and production teams through complex, build-to-order projects.
  • Strong command of scope, schedule, budget, risk, procurement, documentation, and customer communication.
  • Ability to read and discuss mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, controls architecture, bills of material, and technical specifications.
  • Practical judgment, organization, follow-through, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.
  • Clear written and verbal communication with customers, suppliers, technicians, engineers, and company leadership.
  • Ability to work primarily at our Leander facility and travel to customer sites as project needs require.

Preferred qualifications

  • Five or more years of relevant project-management or technical program-management experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing, business, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Familiarity with PLC/HMI controls, industrial robots, machine vision, motion control, safety systems, and automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience with systems such as Allen-Bradley, Siemens, FANUC, Cognex, Keyence, SolidWorks, or Ignition.
  • PMP certification or formal project-management training.
